Case study · Palm Coast
A Palm Coast house full of cameras, art and everything else
Some estates have one collection. This one had a camera and photography collection, art from many places, and a full garage, all in the same house.
The mix we walked into
A collector's home rarely sorts itself into neat rooms. Camera bodies sit next to lenses, darkroom gear and boxes of accessories. Art and carved pieces share shelves with pottery and glass. The garage holds a working life of tools.
The first job was telling these groups apart. A specialist buyer for vintage photography equipment is not the same person who wants folk art or a table saw, and each group needs to be shown to the right people.
- Vintage cameras and photography equipment
- International and folk art
- Asian-inspired artwork and carved decorative pieces
- Vintage and antique furnishings
- Tools and garage items
- Pottery, glassware, ceramics and collectibles
How the sale was put together
We sorted, researched and priced the collections and the everyday household together, so the camera gear got the attention it needed without the rest of the house being an afterthought. Then we photographed the highlights, promoted the sale publicly and ran it over three days.
Why collections change the plan
When a house holds a serious collection, the family's biggest risk is usually speed. A well-meaning relative can donate a box of 'old camera stuff' in an afternoon. Bring us in before anything specialized leaves the house, even if most of the home looks ordinary.
If your family is planning something similar
- Leave camera gear, lenses and accessories together. A body without its lens or case is harder to place.
- Tell us about collections before the walkthrough if you can, even roughly: 'lots of cameras', 'art from overseas'.
- Not every collection belongs in the estate sale. Some pieces may fit an online auction or a direct sale to a specialist better, and we'll say so.
- Plan for what remains: furniture and garage items that don't sell need a donation or cleanout plan before the last day.
If the house is also being sold, Poshlando Realty can talk with you about it under its own brokerage agreement. Running an estate sale doesn't create a real-estate agency relationship, and you can use any agent you choose. Poshlando Realty
